Spring Bulletin 2010 by Emberblue Spring Bulletin 2010 by Emberblue
A cover designed for a church's Sunday bulletin. For spring. :) This was created in both Photoshop and Illustrator. The watercolor brushes and watercolor texture were all done in Photoshop. The flowers were drawn in Illustrator. The brushes used are from my collection that I've gathered over the years.

Spring is past and Summer is coming. Or maybe it's already here, I don't know! lol! "And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding." ~ Daniel 2:21

I am assuming the cross is the church's logo? I understand why they would want it larger, but wonder if minimizing its size would balance the composition a little better. It's very contemporary and very graphic compared to the delicate contours of your flowers. Therefore demands a bit more attention than it really needs and distracts from your illustration and texture.

I love the design along the edge too, but would either align the url to the bar's horizontal center or make the bar itself more thin. Then possibly move the url down so it is aligned with the bottom of "spring".

Again, just my thoughts and feel free to ignore me. :) These pieces are definitely going in the right direction, but my comments are just things grabbing my attention.

Very nice. I like the sketchy quality of the flowers and the paintlike colors.

Thanks! It's fun to use digital media to create something that looks like "traditional" media. :)

I love it! I have a soft spot for water colour effects and yours definitely hit my spot :)

Love the cross too. Well done!

Thanks for the kind words. :aww: I've seen lots of digital "water color" lately and I'd love to perfect the technique myself. This was fun for a start. :)
